Illinois Child Photographer ~ So Stinkin CUTE!

Most of you know that 9 months is one of my very FAVORITE ages to shoot!  When you get to shoot one this cute, wearing something this cute, it just doesn’t get much better :)

Sneak Peek for her mommy :)

They grow like weeds…

It’s been a year since I photographed this little beauty.  I have a couple images of her hanging in the studio and couldn’t believe how much she changed in just one year.  She was busy and full of personality….just how I like them :)   The family shot is another I could post in the “what to wear” post.  I love their solid brown shirts and her coordinating brown pattern!

This is the last week of summer vacation before school starts for my 3 kiddos.  I may take a bit longer to respond to e-mail and voice mails as I’m trying to spend as much time as possible with them.  My baby is starting kindergarten…how on earth did that happen??

A sneak peek has been requested :)

and since I appreciate when clients are excited to see their images I guess I can accommodate the request :)   I met this family 2 years ago and fell in love with them.  Their kids are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!  I’ve been looking forward to this session for months now.   So here is a tiny little peek cause I’m not quite finished with them.  Hope this will hold you over “A” :)

Illinois Newborn Photographer ~ My new pail!

I purchased this pail with a newborn session in mind then when I was setting up for this session came up with this idea :)   I keep thinking one day I”m going to run out of new ideas, sort of my fear actually, but thankfully my creative juices continue to flow after 5 years which keeps it fresh and fun for me and a unique experience for you!    I love how it turned out :)   Congrats to this new little baby girl’s family!  She is BEAUTIFUL and look forward to watching her grow.

I {Love} maternity!

I love maternity, especially when the couple is as fun as these two!  They are such a perfect fit, not just for each other but for my shooting style.  I love doing a maternity session before baby arrives because we get a chance to hang out for a bit and get to know each other.    Honestly,  every time one of my expecting mom’s gives birth it’s like a new addition to my family too!    I’m also not ashamed to admit I will stalk their facebook walls for any news of the big arrival :)   Looking forward to meeting their little bundle soon!

Another BEEEAUTIFUL family!

Aren’t these girl as cute as they can be!!!?  We had some fun!  Here is a small sneak peek!

Little “E” is 9 months :)

We’ve had lots of 9 month olds in the studio lately.  I just love this age!!  She was born WAY early and just started sitting on her own a few days before our session.  She’s been through a lot in her short little life and truly a miracle.  I’m honored her parents chose me to capture her miraculous first year.  Here is a little sneak peek cause her momma is dying to see some :)

More sessions as promised :)

A couple of beautiful little 9 month olds in the studio!

What should we wear?

That’s a very good question :)   It’s also very important to the final look of your images.  Especially images that will be more than one person or an entire family.  I have pulled several of my favorite family/sibling shots to help you.  I’m sure there is more but these will do for now.  First, my LEAST favorite color to shoot ESPECIALLY outside is solid white.  It is the least flattering and will draw your eye straight to it instead of the subjects in the image.  I much prefer darker tones.  I know it’s hot here this time of year, but I also prefer to shoot families wearing jeans or long skirts over shorts.   Layers are always a good choice.  I love scarves that add a pop of color or a vest for little fellas as you’ll see in one of the images I’m posting.

A fun print is fine as long as you aren’t doing multiple prints in the same images.  For example if little brother were wearing a plaid shirt in this it would be way too busy.   I like that mom chose the girls dresses that featured the SAME  flower print and then coordinated all the other SOLID colors to match.  It’s a great idea to find one thing you love then find other pieces to coordinate.

In this next shot they chose 2 dark tones that work well together.  You don’t have to all wear the same color, but coordinating two complimentary colors works well.

As much as I don’t like shooting white, I LOVE shooting black!!  I especially like it with denim.  It works well for just about everyone, it very flattering and will be a classic portrait for years and years to come.

I have 3 blue-eyed kiddos who look fabulous in blue.  These three also have amazing blue eyes which just pop wearing these blue shirts.

I love this combination also.  If I were guessing I would say mom picked out the vest with a slight pattern and coordinated their clothes accordingly.  I love the layer of the vest and the pop of color of his blue shirt.  It doesn’t scream out at you but the texture and bit of color works nicely together.

Browns are awesome too!  I like the layers in his jacket and plaid shirt.  Again, they only have one pattern going on here and their shirts are solid.  I love the way denim works with brown too!

I will try to post more examples, but hope this helps a bit in selecting your clothing for sessions.   As always let me know if you have questions, I’m here to make your images the best they can be :)

I love to capture connection!

I’ll say it one more time…I LOVE to capture connection!  I want my images to make you feel something.  I want them to take you back to that time, I want you to be able to hear the laughter in your head when you view them again and again over the years.   These two are one of my favorite mother/daughter duo’s and a perfect example of exactly what I’m trying to accomplish when I shoot any family together.  I will also say that I don’t think it’s possible to take a bad image on my beloved yellow chair.  I also REALLY  loved their clothing choices.  The icing on the cake is that they are absolutely beautiful inside and out :)
