Make a wish…

We went to the park today and Emma found this pile of cotton wood (?), not sure if that’s what you call it.  Anyway, she told me she wanted to make a wish.  Guess what she wished for?  A pony, yes a pony.  At least my girl knows how to wish big!

The sad part is as were were walking home she said, “I wonder if my pony will be in the backyard when we get home?”

Happy Birthday Kyle!!

My little guy turns 9 today!!  I’ve said this before over and over, he is the funniest kid I have ever met.  He makes me laugh every single day!  His teacher wrote on his coduct and effort sheet, “Kyle cracks me up!”

We hope you have a wonderful day Kyle!  Happy Birthday!

We love you bunches and bunches!!

Rainy Days!

Do you know what rainy days are good for?

WORMS!!

blog112

She named him wormie and asked if we could keep him inside.  She for the most part is such a girly girl.  She loves to dress up, play in my makeup, have tea parties and  coordinate her clothing.  Yet she loves to play in the mud, wrestle with her brothers, and thinks a fart is about the funniest thing ever!  I truly have the best of both worlds with her.

By far her favorite thing to do is swing.  She could swing for hours.  I push her about 1000 times a day on that swing.  After we found wormie a proper place to live (not in our house) I pushed her on the swing and snapped some shots.  I thought this one was pretty cool…

Opening day part 2!

A couple shots of Ryan.  He plays catcher quite a bit and I have yet to get a shot of a “tag out” at home so that will be my goal for this summer.

Opening Day!

I love baseball season!  I’m always sad when it ends.  We are very busy with 2 boys playing but I love every minute of it!   I love capturing the action, just love it!  Freezing the motion and even better the ball in mid air (and sometimes the player) is one of my favorite things to shoot.  My boys are way over me photographing them for regular portraits but love it when I shoot them playing.  They’ll even yell over at me during the game when they’ve made a play or hit the ball and say, “Did you get that mom?”.  Here are a few of Kyle and I’ll post some of Ryan in a bit.

I love the pure determination on his face!

and the sheer joy when he tags home (well hopefully he actually got his foot down)

Playing 3rd base…he was ready for this grounder but it took a bad hop as you can see.  Way to use your body Kyle!

4 more inches…

Just 4 more and he will look me in the eyes!!  When did this happen?

I found a couple images from the very first time Ryan met his little brother Kyle in the hospital.  The second is one of my very favorites.  His reaction to meeting him is priceless!  I am so thankful someone had the camera ready!  He is 3 years old in these…

How did I ever get so lucky?

I was looking through the images I took of Emma the other day and came across these two.  Emma wanted her daddy to sit with her so I took the opportunity to snap a couple of them together.  I have to tell you that this thing, this business, this career, this amazing experience of being a children’s photographer started with him.  He encouraged me from the very beginning.  He keeps me organized, keeps my files backed up, loads software, he is my technical guru.  He is my prop finder.  He found the limb for Emma’s valentines, climbed several trees to find the branch for the newborn images, he helped our friends load and haul a full size couch to a field and then waited on stand by to come pick it up again.  He is my light tester.  He will let me practice new lighting and posing whenever I ask.  If I’m trying something new he is always willing to give up an afternoon scouting a new location or testing some idea….always.

If I say, “Boy, I’d like to have that new camera, or wouldn’t that new lens be awesome,” the next day I’ll have e-mails from him showing me the best place to get it or some deal he found while searching.

He’s and incredible dad!  We have been married for almost 13 years now and he makes me laugh EVERY DAY!  I’m thankful that God allowed us to find each other because I can’t imagine my life without him in it.

Spring is coming…

so I thought I’d get out and practice.  I cannot wait for outdoor sessions, this warmer weather really has me itching to shoot outside!!  I love it that I have a built in model.  The first image is her model pose.  If you ask her to model, this is what she does.  The other day she rolled out the whole roll of aluminum foil for her runway and strutted down it wearing her pink heels and green leggings.  Pretty darn cute.  She picked the hat.  I think it’s cute even though it didn’t match perfectly and if she’s willing to let me photograph her I’m willing to let her wear just about whatever she wants.   She calls it her cow hat and it’s almost too small.  I have some updates coming in the next day or two and I took images of a book that a client ordered I’d like to share.
